Painter and printmaker; born Locksley, Victoria 1899, earned his living as a public servant in the Postal Department and in the Department of the Army while studying art part-time at the National Gallery School, Mebourne 1941-48, the George Bell School 1946-60 and Melbourne Technical College 1951-59; became known as a painter when he exhibited with his friend Fred Williams and John Armstrong at the Stanley Coe Gallery, Melbourne 1951; from the 1950s made lithographs and other prints, a collection of his prints and those of his artists friends from this period is in the National Gallery of Australia; much of his own work however was lost in a studio fire in 1968; lived and worked in Melbourne Ref British Museum.
